Faculty Position Openings

Position Announcement: Criminal Justice and Public Safety Management

The Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) at the IUPUI campus seeks to fill a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. We are seeking candidates (ABD may be considered) with broad interests in criminal justice and public safety management. Disciplinary background is open, but preference will be given to candidates with rigorous, quantitative methodological training and substantive research interests related to criminal justice or public safety. The successful candidate will have strong analytic capabilities and be committed to seeking and working on externally funded research projects, including projects for the National Institute of Justice. The candidate will be expected to collaborate with faculty in SPEA's Center for Urban Policy and the Environment and proposed Center for Criminal Justice Research. This faculty member will teach undergraduate courses in our Bachelor's of Science in Criminal Justice program and in the criminal justice concentration in our Master's of Public Affairs program.

SPEA is a multi-disciplinary, university-wide division of Indiana University, established as a professional school committed to excellence in teaching, research, and civic engagement, that addresses critical issues of criminal justice and public safety. With more than 75 faculty members on the core campuses of Bloomington and Indianapolis, SPEA is among the largest schools of public affairs in the United States. SPEA IUPUI programs in criminal justice and nonprofit management are ranked third and fourth in the nation, respectively, by U.S. News and World Reports, and SPEA is home to the only accredited Master of Health Administration program in Indiana. The research portfolio of SPEA IUPUI faculty exceeds more than $5 million in innovative projects with state and local governments and philanthropic foundations. SPEA IUPUI maintains excellent relationships with state and local criminal justice agencies, has multi-year research contracts with the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute, and is launching a new graduate certificate program with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police District. IUPUI is located in thriving downtown Indianapolis within walking distance of the state capitol and several museums and sports facilities.

Position Announcement: Health Services Research, Policy, or Administration

The Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) at the IUPUI campus seeks candidates with broad interests in health services research or health policy for a tenured or tenure track position. Disciplinary background is open, and rank is dependent upon qualifications. Preference will be given to candidates with rigorous, quantitative methodological training, experience using large databases for policy analysis or outcomes research, and promise or experience in obtaining external research funding from governmental agencies or community health organizations. The successful candidate will be expected to assume a leadership role in and to collaborate with faculty in the development of our Center for Health Policy (www.healthpolicy.iupui.edu). SPEA's Center for Health Policy has a growing portfolio of projects in areas such as health disparities, mental health and addiction, children's health, and Medicaid policy and is providing research and staff support for Indiana's health care reform commission. Consistent with his or her disciplinary expertise, this faculty member will teach courses in SPEA graduate and undergraduate programs in health administration or public affairs.
