Gifts of publicly traded stock allow donors to claim a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the securities on the date the gift is made. Additionally, donors pay no capital gains tax on any appreciation in the value of the securities since they were acquired. Securities may be electronically transferred to the School by contacting your broker. Consult your tax advisor for detailed information.
Bequests, which are gifts made through a will, are an easy and effective way to make a significant contribution to the School. A bequest may provide for a specific dollar gift, a percentage of your estate, or other assets to be given to SPEA.
Donors can make a substantial gift to SPEA while still earning income from the donated assets by using life income vehicles, such as charitable remainder trusts or deferred gift annuities. Life income gifts may provide some or all of the following benefits:
