About IUPUI & Indianapolis

The Central Canal and downtown Indianapolis

The IUPUI campus is just blocks from the Indiana State House and the center of downtown Indianapolis.

Whether you grew up in central Indiana or have never been to the Midwest, you will find that IUPUI and Indianapolis provide a unique setting for your graduate studies. IUPUI consists of 22 schools and academic units granting degrees in more than 200 programs from both Indiana University and Purdue University. Over 9,000 of IUPUI's 29,000 students are enrolled in graduate or professional programs on the campus.

Because IUPUI is an urban research and academic health sciences campus that has strong associations with nonprofit agencies, health care organizations, and government at the local, state, and national, even international levels, the faculty is recognized and renowned for its credentials, experience, involvement and impact on the worldwide community.

IUPUI's downtown location provides students with unparalleled opportunities for internships and other practical experiences - not to mention a social life that only a downtown urban campus can provide. Indianapolis is home to the state capital, Fortune 500 companies, the world's largest children's museum, White River State Park, history and art museums, the NCAA Headquarters and Hall of Champions, the Indianapolis 500 and Brickyard 400, the Indianapolis Zoo, countless parks and greenways, the Indiana Pacers and Indianapolis Colts, and a world-renowned symphony orchestra. Its IUPUI campus is neighbor to three, nationally acclaimed Clarian Health hospitals - Indiana University, Methodist, and Riley.
