Thank you for your interest in the IU MHA!
The Indiana University Master of Health Administration program has a long and distinguished history of preparing students to assume management and leadership positions in health care organizations. Graduates serve in leadership positions in all facets of health care including health systems, hospitals, physician practices, HMO's, health insurance, and consulting. Many graduates serve as chief executive officers of their organizations.
The MHA program prepares students for their careers by combining a strong educational program with opportunities to gain a variety of practical experiences in the health care field. The program includes courses that develop key business skills as well as an awareness of various aspects of the dynamic health care environment. Advanced courses include project work for health care organizations. Students may acquire additional practical experience through paid summer internships, our mentor program which matches individual students with local health care executives, and health-related part-time positions.
A great strength of the MHA program at Indiana University is the faculty. Student learning is enhanced by a core group of full-time faculty with extensive academic and management experience, supported by an impressive cadre of part-time and associate faculty who bring significant experience to their specific areas of health care expertise.
The MHA program has excellent linkages to the health care field. There is an MHA Program Advisory Committee that includes health care leaders from across the state of Indiana. Prominent members of the health care community participate in a number of courses to bridge practical experiences with course content. Health care organizations not only support projects conducted as a part of the MHA curriculum, but also provide internship and part-time work opportunities for students.
