Democracy Plaza in the heart of the IUPUI campus is a popular forum for student expression.
Student organizations provide important service, social, and development opportunities for students in the School of Public and Environmental Affairs. From advisory councils to student groups for specific subject areas, there is a student organization for every SPEA student. Environmental Awareness League (EAL)
Mission: to promote awareness of environmental issues and to exchange the latest ideas and tools in order to better the future of environmental health. Open to all students, regardless of major or school affiliation. Throughout the year, EAL typically hosts a variety of social and service activities, field trips, and guest speakers.

Alpha Phi Sigma
Alpha Phi Sigma is the only National Criminal Justice Honor Society for criminal justice majors. The society recognizes academic excellence of undergraduate and graduate students of criminal justice.
Undergraduate students must maintain a minimum of 3.2 overall GPA on a 4.0 scale, and a 3.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale, in criminal justice courses. Students must also rank in the top 35% of their classes and have completed a minimum of four courses within the criminal justice curriculum at IUPUI. Graduate students are required to maintain a minimum of a 3.4 GPA in both criminal justice courses and overall courses, on a 4.0 scale. Students must have completed a minimum of four courses within the criminal justice curriculum at IUPUI. The honor society is open to those with a declared criminal justice major or minor. Membership is by invitation only.
For the past 19 years, Alpha Phi Sigma has sponsored the annual Criminal Justice Career Information Day bringing a variety of agencies and organizations to campus including, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the F.B.I., the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, local probation departments, and private security companies, to name a few. The members of Alpha Phi Sigma are looking forward to the 20th Annual Career Information Day during the 2007-2008 academic year!

American Humanics Student Association (AHSA)
American Humanics certificate program educates, prepares and certifies nonprofit professionals to strengthen and lead nonprofit organizations. The American Humanics Student Association at IUPUI provides a training ground outside of the classroom for students seeking certification through AH and students with interests in nonprofits and volunteerism. AHSA organizes service activities and fundraising events on campus and in the Indianapolis community. Open educational meetings are held once a month, featuring speakers from the Indianapolis nonprofit community. Many leadership opportunities are also available within AHSA and membership is open to both undergraduate and graduate students. Students pay a $25 annual membership fee and fulfill academic certification requirements.

Phi Alpha Delta
Phi Alpha Delta is an international law fraternity and is the only law fraternity with a pre-law division designed to help undergraduate students acclimate into law school. As a student organization, Phi Alpha Delta is very involved with the community, the university, and the local law community.

SPEA Student Council
Formed in fall 2004, the SPEA Student Council serves as an umbrella organization for all SPEA student organizations. The council serves as a student voice and advocate for student needs with SPEA faculty and administrative staff.

MHA Student Association
The IU MHA Student Association's goal is to plan events for both BSPH-Health Administration and MHA students that will allow students to get to know each other and network with experienced professionals in the health care arena.

Public Affairs Student Association (PASA)
PASA is a graduate student organization for all public affairs Master's degree and certificate students. Through social events, professional networking events, and community service events, the group seeks to enhance the academic, professional, and social lives of students. Every public affairs graduate student is automatically a member of PASA. PASA events have included weekly Wednesday night socials, networking with alumni, holiday donation drive, and service activities.
