About IUPUI & Indianapolis
The IUPUI campus is just blocks from the Indiana State House and the center of downtown Indianapolis.
Whether you grew up in central Indiana or have never been to the Midwest, you will find that IUPUI and Indianapolis provide a unique setting for your college experience. IUPUI consists of 22 schools and academic units granting degrees in more than 200 programs from both Indiana University and Purdue University. Over 29,000 students attend IUPUI, representing 49 states and 122 countries.
IUPUI's downtown location provides students with excellent opportunities for internships and other practical experiences - not to mention a social life that only a downtown urban campus can provide. Student housing has the capacity for 1,060 students in a traditional residence hall and the new Campus Apartments on the River Walk. IUPUI is home to Division I athletic programs in 14 sports and is a member of the Summit League, formerly the Mid-Continent Conference.
Indianapolis is home to the state capital, Fortune 500 companies, the world's largest children's museum, White River State Park, history and art museums, the NCAA Headquarters and Hall of Champions, the Indianapolis 500 and Brickyard 400, the Indianapolis Zoo, countless parks and greenways, the Indiana Pacers and Indianapolis Colts, and a world-renowned symphony orchestra. Its IUPUI campus is neighbor to three, nationally acclaimed Clarian Health hospitals - Indiana University, Methodist, and Riley.
